Berlin has two major airports (Flughafen), Tegel to the northwest of the city and Schoenefeld to the southeast.
The third centrally situated city airport, Tempelhof, has been due to close since plans for a new terminal at Schoenefeld airport were unveiled. The completion date for this terminal has now been set for summer 2008 and so Tempelhof remains open until then. It currently operates limited domestic connections used mainly by
business travellers and private charter flights.
