I hate the smell of vinegar - I bought some Frosch vinegar cleaner, but I couldn't bear the smell! I have used bicarb of soda plus lemon juice and that was quite effective!

Won't a brillo pad scratch the ceramic and leave you with lots of grey marks? That would be my worry.
